Page Rank Improvement: Free and Paid Strategies

Posted on August 01, 2010 by admin

So why is page rank improvement so important to your online success? Principally because the higher your website or blog appears in the free search results the more you’ll be seen as an authority in your niche, the more traffic you’ll get, and the more money you’ll make.

So let’s look at some ways we can legitimately improve page rank without any ‘black hat’, ‘smoke and mirrors’ nonsense that will annoy the search engines:

We should break the subject of page rank improvement into ‘on page’ and ‘off page’ methods. ‘On page’ means anything we do to our own web pages or blog posts.

Firstly we need to have selected a domain name that has relevance and piques the interest of our target market.

Secondly, we need to include our keyword for each page or post into the title tag of that page, and preferably the description tag as well. The title tag in particular is essential in telling the engines what your page is about. Don’t be clever or cryptic with it. Stick your main keyword in there.

You should always include a sitemap page, to help the search engines spider your site or blog, and ideally create a site structure where no page is more than two clicks from the home page.

‘Off page’ techniques for page rank improvement could include the following. Write articles on your subject, optimised around a particular relevant keyword term, including a link back to the relevant page on your site in the ‘resource box’ which displays your keyword in the linking or ‘anchor’ text.

This conveys authority on to your site regarding this specific keyword. You can use these same articles on your blog.

Cultivate some incoming links from sites with a higher page rank than yours. If you install the Google Tool Bar (it’s free, just Google the phrase and follow the instructions) you’ll see the page rank of every site you visit. If your site is ranked ‘1′, then an incoming link from a ranked ‘3′ site creates huge credibility and instant page rank improvement for your site.

You can also buy text links. It’s perfectly legitimate, although buying links from sites ranked 8 or 9 can run into thousands. See if you can find sites in your niche with a page rank one or two higher than yours and if you’re happy with the cost, go for it. Google the term ‘link exchanges’ for some options. It can make a huge and immediate difference to your page rank. I would only suggest this if your site or blog is well monetized so you can offset the cost of the link.

Some more ways to create backlinks and page rank improvement would include posting on other people’s (relevant) blogs with a link back to your site in the ‘signature’. You can also post regularly in related forums, again with your link in the signature.

All these techniques and others will create a drip feed of page rank improvement and bigger traffic to your site. The opportunity of throwing some cash at it to make it go faster is there though, if you’re up for it!
